Q

Question:

Q. I have some extra needs for support with online work, will I get help?

(Last edited: Tuesday, 10 September 2019, 11:57 AM)
Answer:

A. The type of help we can give you consists of offering advice and support with online access issues you might have due to a sensory disability, or a motor disability which affects your access to working online.  The courses we have are not currently available in different languages. If you have a specific learning disability like dyslexia, we may be able to offer you some support with this.

If you have a specific need please contact the Innovative Learning Manager on bob.mcallister@wcs.ac.uk

Question:

Q. I have submitted work to my tutor but haven’t heard anything, should I be concerned?

(Last edited: Thursday, 3 September 2020, 1:29 PM)
Answer:

A. Once you have submitted your assessment, markers are allocated 7 days to return this to you.  You should be able to logon to your course to see if your feedback has been returned.  This can be fond in my assessment or my portfolio tab depending on the learning platform you are working on.

If you are studying via paper it can take a bit longer to receive feedback given the postage timings etc.

If it has been more than 7 days since you submitted your work, then please email us on onlinelearning@wcs.ac.uk and we will look into this ASAP for you.

A.  We do not offer SVQs at the moment via Distance Learning and the courses are not an equivalent.

Question:

What happens if I miss the start date?

(Last edited: Thursday, 3 September 2020, 1:34 PM)
Answer:

A. The majority of our courses do not have set start dates and are open for most of the year.  There is a short period where we close enrolments between the end of one session and the start of the next.  We will have a notice on our courses during this time so you are aware.

If you have any further query on start dates please contact the Online Learning Team at onlinelearning@wcs.ac.uk

Question:

What is Moderation, and how long does it take?

(Last edited: Thursday, 3 September 2020, 1:34 PM)
Answer:

A. Moderation is an internal process where Markers work is sampled to ensure standards and quality processes are met.

We do not sample any work that is more than 3 months old.  Once you have submitted your last assessment your work will remain in the moderation stage for 1 month, in case your last assessment is reviewed.

Although it is not your work that is being moderated, if areas of improvement are identified or where an answer should have been referred to you then your assessment may be returned to you to make changes.

If you have any further questions regarding Moderation please contact the Online Learning Team email at onlinelearning@wcs.ac.uk

Question:

What qualifications do I need to start a course?

(Last edited: Tuesday, 10 September 2019, 2:18 PM)
Answer:

A. For most of our courses you do not need any previous qualifications.  As most of our courses are delivered online it would be beneficial if you had a basic competence in IT and the internet.

For Level 3 courses we ask that you have a Level 2 or equivalent.

You can see any qualification entry requirements on each course page description on our website
